Equipment List

The following tables list the equipment that all Cal-ESAR members are expected to have ready at any time. The equipment is divided up into various "packs" to be used for different types of operations. For a suburban search where the assignments are less than eight hours long, an 18-hour pack is sufficient. For night operations, communications relays and foul weather, a larger pack is in order. Within each pack are various "kits", to further help organize the gear.

We require each member to carry the pack at all times. This may seem a bit restrictive, but if you drop the pack to descend a short but steep slope and then find the subject's trail and start following it, your gear will be behind and above you, and completely useless to you. It's much better simply to take it with you all of the time.
